KTM begin their promotional journey for their new Electric motocross bikes.
Its interesting to watch the development of electric bikes, as the power available is in its infancy, there is a tendency to design light and efficient, something that has been less important with petrol bikes.
I have already read rider feedback on how much they enjoy the lightness of some new e-moto’s.
With battery technology improving at a fantastic rate, its very likely that power to weight ratios will soon surpass that of gasoline counterparts.
KTM have produced a very slick looking bike, the first of the brand name manufactures to hit the market. New players like ZERO, Brammo and REDSHIFT, while less refined in a production sense have pushed hard to get there bikes up to gas bike power levels. From rider reports though there seems t be a way to go in the handling of the new players bikes. KTM may hold an ace card here with many years of experience. A big gamble for KTM being first of the big players to enter the market, braking the ice as to say.
It really excites me to follow the development and wish I could play a bigger part in it. Perhaps soon NZ will get into the game, we defiantly have the talent here to build race winning bikes and move transport out of the oil age.
