Nishiki with 36v Ezee KitMay 3, 2011 • Posted by Daryl in EVLAB Conversions • • 0 comments
This conversion is using the Ezee front wheel conversion kit. Mostly this kit is well resolved, a few fasteners needed and some holes to be drilled out. The Ezee kit comes with a selection of parts, you can choose pedal assist, or twist throttle, and has a basic fuel gauge.
The motor is a geared reduction motor, powered by a 36v 22 amp controller. This puts a near 700watts peak at the motor and the climbing ability is impressive. They claim its a 300w motor, but it more like a 400w average. Its a noisy motor and slow to accelerate, but it climbs like mad. An ideal hill motor. It is a free wheeling motor, so can not do regenerative braking, but provides no friction when cycling unassisted.
The battery is a lithium ion, using Samsung cells. It is light and small in a tidy case that integrates well with the carrier.
It is likely to have a shorter life span than a Lithium Phosphate battery, but performs well and makes a tidy package.
Ezee have spent some time addressing water proofing issues, but still have some way to go.
EVLAB think Ezee kits are pretty good and are impressed with their performance. We will be stocking and servicing Ezee kits and servicing their bikes.
